High pressure, high reliability Bonded seals
Bonded seals are composite sealing elements made by firmly bonding a metal washer to an elastomer (such as NBR or FKM), specifically designed for high-pressure, high-reliability applications.
It is essentially an integrated structure of "metal skeleton + rubber sealing lip". The rubber part is usually trapezoidal in cross-section, thickening towards the center, and generates a self-tightening effect upon compression.
The metal part (commonly low-carbon steel or stainless steel) serves to limit and resist pressure, preventing the rubber from being over-compressed and deformed.
Initially used to replace traditional copper washers, it is widely used in hydraulic, pneumatic, marine, and engineering machinery to replace bolt head under-plane seals.
Structure and Material Selection
Metal Matrix: Low-carbon steel, stainless steel (304/316), special alloys (customized upon request)
Stainless steel is corrosion resistant, low-carbon steel is low-cost; non-standard metals can adapt to extreme working conditions.
Rubber Seal: Nitrile (NBR), FKM, EPDM, FFKM, silicone, etc.
NBR is the most commonly used (oil resistant), FKM/FFKM is suitable for high temperature/strong chemical media.

The "self-centering" design ensures proper installation alignment; upon compression, it forms a zero-pressure initial seal, and as pressure increases, the sealing effect is enhanced.
This structure combines the advantages of rigid metal support and elastic rubber sealing, making it more pressure-resistant than pure rubber gaskets and more reliable than pure metal gaskets.
