High Quality at Low Cost — DMS Redefines China’s Sealing Industry
Within the segmented tracks of manufacturing, genuine core technology is honed amid roaring production lines and oil-stained working sites. Foshan DMS Sealing Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as DMS), located in Heli Industrial Park, Lishui, Nanhai, is precisely such a practice-driven enterprise.
As a representative of Foshan’s "Specialized, Refined, Unique and Innovative" enterprises, DMS follows an unconventional path. It adopts a down-to-earth development strategy: field investigation, independent technical transformation and continuous process iteration. From breaking the high-end monopoly held by overseas giants to developing in-house equipment for cost reduction and efficiency gains, DMS demonstrates the craftsmanship and breakthrough spirit of Foshan manufacturing with solid technical strength.
1,On-site Fieldwork to Tackle the Root Cause of Seal Failure
Seals for hydraulic breakers are widely recognized as a tough technical challenge in the construction machinery sector.
Though seemingly insignificant, these components operate continuously under extreme conditions: high-frequency impact, violent vibration, elevated temperature and heavy dust, leading to rapid wear and tear. Conventional domestically made seals often fail after only 200 to 300 hours of service, while imported counterparts consistently achieve a service life of 500 hours. This massive performance gap has long allowed overseas brands to dominate the high-end market.
To uncover the real reasons behind the gap, DMS made a bold decision: instead of relying solely on laboratory tests, go straight to the job site.
The company assigned its core engineering team to station at a large construction machinery repair market in Guangzhou. For an entire month, the engineers lived and worked alongside frontline maintenance technicians, immersing themselves in repair sites. They monitored equipment operation round the clock and recorded every detail of seal degradation. This hands-on, field-based research enabled the R&D team to pinpoint core weaknesses such as insufficient material toughness and poor process adaptability, and fully identify the fundamental performance gap between domestic and imported products.
2, Technological Breakthrough
From Following to Leading — Realizing Domestic Substitution
Armed with real operational data and pain points collected from field research, DMS’s R&D team launched targeted technical development.
Material formulation optimization, production process iteration, multiple rounds of sample testing and repeated refinement. After countless failed attempts, the technical bottleneck was finally overcome.
This breakthrough achieves full domestic substitution of high-end hydraulic breaker seals and fills critical technical gaps in the industry.
3, Major Process Innovation
Self-developed Equipment: The Ultimate Logic for Cost Reduction & Efficiency Improvement
Technical breakthrough marks only the first step. DMS understands that great products can win market share only with outstanding production efficiency.
Faced with industry pain points of traditional compression molding: low throughput, poor precision and high material waste, DMS once again demonstrated its robust capability by independently developing automated compression molding equipment.
This innovation completely transforms the traditional manual workflow, delivering tangible improvements:
- Sharp capacity growth: Unit production capacity increased by 6 to 8 times.
- Higher precision: Reduced manual intervention greatly improves batch consistency and dimensional accuracy.
Particularly notable is the dramatic rise in raw material utilization.
For a product with a finished thickness of 2.6 mm, the traditional process requires a 1 mm single-side turning allowance, resulting in merely 50% raw material utilization.
By optimizing its processes, DMS lifts raw material utilization up to 80%!
"Quality exceeding imports at competitive prices." Guided by this twelve-word principle, DMS has built strong dual competitiveness in the marketplace.
