PTFE Material Introduction (Pure vs Filled)
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a high-performance material widely used in industries, chemistry, and food-grade sectors. Pure polytetrafluoroethylene has excellent chemical stability and is highly resistant to corrosion by almost all acids, bases, solvents, and oils, without undergoing corrosion or aging;

However, pure PTFE has inherent shortcomings:
1.It is prone to creep (cold flow) under pressure, especially at high temperatures, leading to unstable dimensions;
- It has poor wear resistance, low mechanical strength and extremely low thermal conductivity,
- which limits its application in heavy-load, high-speed and high-PV working conditions.
To overcome these drawbacks, filled PTFE is developed by adding fillers such as glass fiber, carbon fiber, graphite or bronze powder.Compared with pure PTFE, filled PTFE significantly improves creep resistance, wear resistance and mechanical strength,enhances thermal conductivity to quickly dissipate frictional heat, and maintains dimensional stability under pressure and temperature changes.While retaining the core advantages of pure PTFE (chemical resistance, non-stick, non-toxicity),filled PTFE expands its application scope to heavy-load seals, bearings and other harsh working conditions, meeting diverse industrial needs.
Common Fillers and Their Effects (Overview)
- Glass Fiber (15–25%): Improves creep resistance, mechanical strength and wear resistance with low cost.
- Carbon Fiber (15–30%): High thermal conductivity, conductive, low friction and excellent wear resistance.
- Graphite (5–15%): Good self-lubrication, reduces friction, improves thermal conductivity; suitable for dry friction conditions.
- Bronze Powder (40–60%): Outstanding thermal conductivity and wear resistance, widely used for heavy-duty hydraulic seals.
- Molybdenum Disulfide: Ultra-low friction, performs well in vacuum and inert environments.
