Step Out of the Comfort Zone and Learn from Benchmarks! DMS SEALS Visits OMEC to Study Lean Production
Running a business is like a long-distance race. While moving forward steadily, we must be most wary of the invisible crisis of "marking time." On the production management journey of DMS Seals Technology Co., Ltd. we have always maintained a clear mind: although the existing production system is mature, there is still a considerable gap to achieve "refinement and efficiency"; despite our dedicated team, there is still much room for improvement in process optimization and on-site management.
Instead of working behind closed doors and resting on our laurels, we take the initiative to go out and learn from benchmarks. On the afternoon of April 1st, the company organized leaders of all departments to make a special trip to Zhuhai OMEC Instruments Co., Ltd. for a thematic visit and study on lean production. We did not engage in "check-in-style visits" or "superficial publicity." Our core goal was simple: to observe the practical practices implemented by benchmark enterprises, identify our own problems, and learn practical experience that can be implemented and deliver results.
Accompanied by OMEC’s management, we went straight to the frontline of the production workshop to experience the actual effects of lean management in an immersive way. The most intuitive impressions were "clean, tidy, orderly, and efficient," featuring a "full-process pull production mode," "full-process traceability and visual management," and "traceability for every single screw."
The lean production implemented here is not a slogan on the wall, but integrated into every detail: materials are sorted and placed with clear signs, eliminating wasted time searching for materials; employees have clear operating standards, with rules and records for every step; workshop equipment is scientifically arranged to reduce unnecessary handling and waiting; visual dashboards are updated in real time, allowing production progress and equipment status to be seen at a glance; full-process hierarchical management is adopted; production problems are resolved daily, updated weekly, reviewed monthly, and summarized annually, forming a coherent and solid workflow.
We are well aware that lean production is never achieved overnight, and there is no uniform "standard answer." This visit to OMEC was not for blind imitation, but to broaden our thinking, recognize our shortcomings, and learn from their pragmatic attitude of "refining small things and thoroughly completing detailed tasks." Stepping out of the comfort zone, daring to acknowledge gaps and face problems head-on is the beginning of corporate growth.
We will take immediate action without empty slogans. Based on the actual situation of DMS SEALS., all staff will participate in integrating the spirit, key points, and underlying logic of lean production into daily work through our own practices. Starting with the basic company-wide 5S activities, we will standardize one operation, organize one workstation, optimize one process at a time, and gradually advance to the overall optimization and transformation of the lean production manufacturing system. We will move forward steadily, implement and improve as we go, follow the PDCA closed-loop cycle, and surely achieve our goals!
